It derives from a hillside (or "conca") located in the subzone of Bussia Soprana in Monforte d'Alba (Cuneo), in the heart of the Langhe region in Piedmont. The name refers to three large poles (or scaffolding) that once delineated the boundaries of this specific viticultural area.
The term Conca Tre Pile refers to a renowned cru (a specific vineyard of high quality) and the eponymous wine Barbera d'Alba DOC.
