Badia a Passignano is located above Sambuca Val di Pesa, 3 km south of Tenuta Tignanello; its 223 hectares, of which 65 are planted with vines, extend over one of the most beautiful and dedicated areas of Chianti Classico.
Its fundamental importance in the history of Chianti is documented in hundreds of volumes, now kept in the State Archives of Florence, which provide information about the Sangiovese vineyards and the crops of the area.
To confirm this, in 1983, a plant of the vine vinifera, thousands of years old, was found in the surrounding land of Badia in Passignano.
After the pressing, the grapes were carefully selected and subsequently pressed in a gentle manner. The alcoholic fermentation took place in about 10 days, after which the wine remained in contact with its skins for an additional 10-12 days. At the end of the malolactic fermentation, which took place in stainless steel tanks, the various batches were tasted, carefully selected and assembled.
Badia a Passignano matured in Hungarian and to a small extent French oak barrels for several months before bottling. Color Intense ruby red
With a deep ruby red color, Badia a Passignano 2020 presents itself on the nose with hints of blackcurrant, rose hips and delicate notes of milk chocolate and cocoa; floral sensations of lavender, lilac, saffron and musk complete the bouquet. On the palate it is lively, vibrant, slender and characterized by a long and savory finish.
