After a rainy winter, a relatively rainy and rather temperate spring followed. The summer brought warmth and stability, but temperatures remained generally below average. The rains at the end of August/beginning of September prolonged the pre-harvest period, leading to a slow and very balanced ripening of the grapes. In particular, they were able to benefit from a very high thermal excursion between day and night, which favored aromatic development. The harvest began on September 19, more than a week behind the average for Biondi-Santi.
In wooden barrels
36 months in Slavonia oak barrels
Color: Ruby red with a brilliant shine
Nose: On the nose the fruit reveals itself immediately intense and compact with dark cherry, pomegranate and blood orange, so typical in Biondi-Santi wines, while the notes of Mediterranean scrub exude scents of thyme, rosemary and sage. At a later stage, floral sensations of red roses and violet are added, followed by those of undergrowth.
Taste: On the palate, the wine is seductive and full of charm, spreading over the tongue with a gentle sweetness, while the pleasantly tangy tannins highlight its remarkable structure and contribute to creating a beautiful sensation of freshness that cleanses the palate, taking us towards a sweet and very long aftertaste.
