Descending from Montalcino towards Tavernelle, on a plateau at about 350 meters above sea level, stands Argiano. We are on the southwest slope of Montalcino with calcareous marl soils of ancient origin: about 25 million years ago, the ocean that covered most of this territory retreated, leaving marine deposits which we still find evidence of today thanks to the beautiful fossils found in our vineyards. This is one of the most suitable areas for growing Sangiovese, thanks to the breezy microclimate and, above all, the ancient calcareous marl soils that extend the aging potential of the wines, making them highly distinctive and representative of their special terroir.
Pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature, spontaneous fermentation and maceration on the skins for 10 days in steel tanks at controlled temperature. Sangiovese selected to preserve freshness and fruity profile.
French oak barrels (10-50 hl) for a few months.
Ruby red color. Fresh and vibrant, it presents aromas of red berry fruit and raspberry with floral and spicy notes on the finish. Harmonious and savory, it is a balanced and versatile gastronomic wine.
James Suckling 93/100
First courses with meat sauces such as pappardelle with wild boar ragout, rabbit or pasta with Tuscan ragout. It pairs well with a Fiorentina steak, cuts of beef, pork ribs or roast lamb. Perfect for a Tuscan starter based on medium-aged Pienza pecorino, savory raw ham, fennel and nostrano salami. Ideal with dishes based on fagianotto, pernice or rabbit in umido.
