Vignaferrovia is produced only in the best vintages from a small vineyard of about 4 and a half hectares, adjacent to the ancient station of Pian delle Vigne, located on a soil that is generally clayey and limestone, rich in small skeletal elements. It is an elegant, enveloping wine characterized by a dense tannin structure supported by great freshness and sweetness.
The grapes, after being destemmed and gently pressed, were transferred to stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation took place. The wine remained in contact with its skins for a period of approximately three weeks, subsequently leaving the steel tanks to undergo aging in wood.
The slow and balanced evolution, starting with small barrels of 5 Hl size and reaching 30 Hl, took place over more than two years. Vignaferrovia was then bottled, thus starting its long journey of maturation in the bottle.
Pian delle Vigne Vignaferrovia 2019 presents a ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose it is a complex and pleasant wine: aromas of cocoa, vanilla and tobacco combine with hints of red fruit such as raspberry, plum jam, apricots and blood orange, a typical characteristic of Sangiovese; balsamic sensations of rosemary and sage complete the bouquet. On the palate it is vibrant and pleasant: initially soft and characterized by notes of chocolate, then elegant and fresh. The finish is long and rich, with velvety and velvety sensations accompanied by aromas of red fruit, spices and cocoa.
